Perched on South Hill with stunning views of Bellingham Bay and the Sound, the Rawls custom home was designed for a New Orleans couple seeking their own piece of paradise in the Pacific Northwest, a residence that brings together the natural aesthetic of the northwest and the timeless charm of old New Orleans into one exquisite modern build.
A custom arched roof, framed by curved beams crafted specifically for this home, while copper and wood accents warm the exterior and carry the material story inside. At the heart of the home, a polished and sleek kitchen centers on a large island with quartz countertops and an integrated stove, paired with a double oven. Hardwood floors run throughout, leading to a luxury master suite above and a comfortable ADU tucked downstairs. A carport completes the composition with quiet practicality.
Set along the shoreline of Birch Bay, this new build brings together the warmth of an oceanfront cottage with the clean lines of a sleek modern home.
Large windows frame the ocean view and fill the interior with gorgeous natural light, while stone and wood accents ground the home in the textures of its setting.
This is a secondary residence that required complete demolition of the existing home. The contemporary architectural design also includes a lower level apartment located opposite of the garage. Perfect rental opportunity.
The end result is stunning and we are thrilled that this wonderful family will make many happy memories inside this highly sought after design, located on the south hill of Bellingham.
Set on the shores of Lake Whatcom, this custom waterfront residence was designed as a true forever home, featuring a main house, a matching guest house, and a boat house, with expansive glass drawn toward the water. The luxury kitchen anchors the great room with fully custom cabinetry and a generous island, opening through a wall of sliding glass to a large deck and a covered outdoor room built around a wood-fired pizza oven.
Refined nautical accents run throughout the home. Immaculately considered landscaping settles it into the shoreline as if it had always been there. Modern, exquisitely crafted, and built to weather Northwest winters, it’s a home shaped entirely around the lake it overlooks.

Tucked into a wooded setting in Bellingham, this beautiful custom home was built for the son of a customer we built for in 2009. It was an honor to work for their son and his family as a repeat customer, and the next generation is the biggest compliment.
This home is anchored by a handcrafted wood staircase and warmed throughout by rich wood accents. At its center, a luxury kitchen brings the home to life with dynamic black-and-white tile work. It features a beautiful Cedar shingle entrance, dramatic roof pitches, and a basement ADU, all tucked away on a peaceful lot right on the hiking trails.
Originally built in 1890, the Wardner Castle still remains standing and is more majestic than ever. This home is on the National Register of Historical Houses and Big Mountain is proud to have been a part of its restoration.
The castle required many opportunities for us to showcase our custom craftsmanship abilities in order to stay true to its original historical design:

This stunning home features our own custom-milled cedar trim, cabinets, doors, and southern pine hardwood floors throughout. We partnered closely with the Dailey’s ideas and together we built a dream home that they will be able to pass along for generations. From removing their old single wide to prepping the site for the foundation, the Dailey custom home is one of our proudest accomplishments and showcases our attention to detail. It was a labor of love to build with these unique materials and equally rewarding to partner with this family. Building dreams that last is what Big Mountain is all about.
This original cedar log cabin was built in the 1970s and was becoming too crowded for Scott’s growing family. They partnered with Big Mountain to build them a gorgeous 1800 sq. ft. custom cedar addition that looked and felt seamless with the original cedar cabin. Our design and build included:
The Scotts also contracted us to repurpose their old antique furniture into beautiful new vanities, closets, and one-of-a-kind fixtures throughout the cabin.

Set in a wooded clearing framed by mountain views, the Van Zandt House is a custom modern build that pairs a clean contemporary aesthetic with natural wood and rock accents, a combination that settles the home effortlessly into its surroundings. Inside, a modern kitchen opens into living spaces anchored by a beautiful hand-milled mantel, while an office space and a generous outdoor sitting area extend the living space.
The Master bedroom is a true suite, complemented by a full bath and walk-in closet, and an upstairs second bedroom with its own en-suite bath, making this a twin master suite and thoughtfully designed flex space throughout. A matching garage and a one-bedroom ADU complete the property, giving the home the kind of working footprint that’s as practical as it is refined.
We get excited when we have the opportunity to tackle a variety of building challenges that showcase our unparalleled attention to detail.
